My work is painted on wood panels. I apply a sand and plaster mixture on the wood. On this textured surface thin acrylic layers of images and color are built up until a rich history has been developed. I often incorporate simple shapes and universal symbols which disappear and reappear in various forms and layers. These shapes and symbols are easy to recognize yet remain mysterious in their meaning.

My paintings are meditative and contemplative works. I find inspiration in the relationships between shapes and color in a rich textural landscape.

To me these paintings often evoke a primitive mysterious environment. The earthy tones seem to create a quiet world one might imagine deep within. I think of myself as a type of modern cave painter.
